Chicago Lions Clubs

Recently, the Mont Clare/Elmwood Park Lions Club ( West side of Chicago) received a letter from Lion Bob Lehman (a Lombard Lion) regarding a child with "Optic Nerve Hypoplasia/Septo Optic Dysplasia". Haley has no vision in her left eye and a shred of functional vision in her right eye. Her only option, for the possibility of sight, is to have an operation in China. Haley, and her mother Heather, are looking for help, our help - www.hayleysvision.com.

We had a few members investigate if there was a way, through International, to help on a larger scale because of the cost for the operation and travel. Now, International does support a program called "SightFirst China Action".

International do have grants available, but NOT for individuals. International has put us in touch with other clubs in the United States who have "sponsored" a child to go to China for this treatment. One of these efforts actually resulted in a Major League baseball team to donate their concession stand profits to the cause and they still barely reached their goal of $25,000.

The Mont Clare/Elmwood Park Lions club has already visited the family and donated $500. We are asking that you help us with this cause by donating whatever monetary amount your club feels is appropriate.

Marvin Gordon at the local Chase Branch is accepting the donations and the account setup up as a non-for profit C-Corp. Any Chase Bank can accept the donations if you have the account number.

Please Note Account #800345753 on your donation.

A member has talked to Hayle's mother, Heather, and her immediate plans are to fly to China on Nov. 20th and spend $23,000 on just the procedure. She started this plea for help over 2 months ago by reaching out the only way she knew but per Marvin has only been able to raise a little over $1,000. So the need is immediate or she will have to turn to credit card debt as her only alternative for the trip.

Heather (the mom) can be reached hayley@hayleysvision.com or by visiting her website at www.hayleysvision.com.

Thank you in advance for your support!
